In preparation for potentially severe weather moving into the tri-state area Tuesday afternoon and evening, Dade County officials will open all community shelters starting at 8:00 a.m. Tuesday. The shelters will remain open through 6:00 p.m. Wednesday.
This decision comes following storm forecasts and advisories from the National Weather Service offices in Huntsville, Peachtree City, and Morristown, Tennessee. Strong storms, including the possibility of damaging winds and tornadoes, are expected to impact the region.
Residents are reminded that the best time to relocate to a community shelter is during a Severe Thunderstorm Watch or Tornado Watch. Once a Severe Thunderstorm Warning or Tornado Warning is issued, you should shelter in place immediately.
