Dade County to Launch Five-Part Information Series on Proposed Elections Building
Posted on August 14, 2025 – by Carey Fauscett-Anderson
TRENTON, Ga. — The Dade County Government will begin releasing a five-part informational series this week to provide citizens with clear, factual information regarding the proposed elections building project.
The series will address common questions about the necessity, cost, location, and operational needs of the project, as well as explain how Georgia’s elections laws and requirements affect the county’s planning process.
No official decision has been made at this time. The goal of this campaign is to inform citizens—not to announce a final decision—so that the community can understand all the factors involved before the Board of Commissioners votes on the matter.

What the Series Will Cover
1. Elections Work: A Year-Round Responsibility – How Georgia’s modern elections calendar, voting equipment requirements, and expanded duties keep elections operations busy every week of the year.
2. Space & Storage: The Hidden Challenge – Why current storage conditions and split locations create inefficiencies, logistical issues, and potential security risks.
3. Why Not Use an Existing County Building? – An evaluation of suggested buildings and why none meet state requirements for secure, accessible elections operations.
4. Cost & Economic Realities – Why all six qualified proposals fall between $2.9M and $3.2M, and how construction costs have changed since earlier estimates.
5. The Path Forward – How the review process works, how citizen input is being considered, and why the county can manage multiple projects at once.

Why This Matters
Georgia’s election laws require that counties provide secure, climate-controlled storage; ADA accessibility; space for poll worker training; and the ability to conduct Logic & Accuracy testing before each election. A dedicated elections facility would meet all these requirements while improving operational efficiency and reducing chain-of-custody risks.
