Dade County to Break Ground on New Elections Building Feb. 25

TRENTON, Ga. — The Dade County Board of Commissioners will host a groundbreaking ceremony for the county’s new Elections Building at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 25, on Georgia Avenue in Trenton. The event is open to the public.

Members of the Board of Commissioners will be joined by the Dade County Board of Elections, county officials, and community leaders for the ceremony.

The new purpose-built facility will serve as the permanent home for Dade County’s elections operations. The building will provide dedicated space for election equipment storage, staff offices, poll worker training, and other administrative functions related to conducting local, state, and federal elections.

“This ceremony marks a significant milestone for Dade County,” said Commission Chairman Don Townsend. “The Board of Commissioners remains committed to ensuring that elections are administered in a secure, professional, and efficient manner, and this facility will support that responsibility for years to come.”

Construction will be overseen by Robert Roberts, owner and general contractor of Robert Roberts LLC of Chattanooga. The projected cost is 1.79 million less than the first estimated cost of over 3.2 million

The project is funded through Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) revenues designated for capital improvements. County leaders have emphasized that the facility is designed to meet operational and legal requirements while maintaining fiscal responsibility.

Residents  are encouraged to attend the groundbreaking ceremony.
