Dade County Sheriff’s Office Mourns Loss of K9 Rocco
DADE COUNTY, Ga. — The Dade County Sheriff’s Office is mourning the loss of one of its most respected four-legged officers.
K9 Rocco passed away on Friday, February 13, after a distinguished career serving the citizens of Dade County.
During his years of service, K9 Rocco played a critical role in law enforcement operations — tracking suspects, detecting illegal narcotics, and assisting deputies in taking felons into custody. According to the Sheriff’s Office, the amount of illegal drugs removed from the community because of Rocco’s work is “absolutely unimaginable.”
Rocco spent his entire career alongside his handler, Chief Detective Casey York. The two worked closely together in the field before Rocco retired two years ago.
In retirement, Rocco spent his days at home with Chief Detective York and his family, enjoying a well-earned rest filled with care and affection.
In a social media post, the Sheriff’s Office said simply, “We will never forget you, K9 Rocco.”
K9 Rocco’s service and dedication leave behind a lasting legacy within the Dade County Sheriff’s Office and the community he helped protect.
