Dade County Sheriff’s Office Jail Officer Off-duty arrested. We received the following information as a press-release.
We would like to inform our community that on early Wednesday Morning, May 19, 2021 the Dade County Administration was alerted to an off-duty employee who was present in the Justice Building and suspected to be under the influence of alcohol. It is known that the off-duty employee did drive his personal vehicle to the office. Sheriff Cross and his command staff immediately responded and began investigating the matter. Standardized Field Sobriety Testing was performed and determined that the employee had operated a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.
Dade County Sheriff’s Office Jail Officer Jesse Daffron was placed into custody and escorted into the Jail for processing. His employment and his position as a Jail Officer has been terminated and is now awaiting bond for charges of Driving Under the Influence.
As peace officers we’re held to higher standards, we swore to uphold the law and under oath swore to enforce the law. No matter how unfortunate it is to arrest one of our own, Dade County Sheriff Ray Cross has extended his hand to all citizens in genuine efforts to offer rehabilitation and assistance to those who find themselves on the wrong path.
In going forward, our Office will continue to maintain the highest of standards that our community deserves.
-Sheriff Ray Cross
