Dade County Schools will conduct an intruder safety drill with staff on Tuesday, Aug. 4, as part of the district’s ongoing efforts to strengthen school safety and emergency preparedness.
According to Superintendent Josh Ingle, the exercise will involve many district employees and will be conducted in partnership with local law enforcement, emergency management officials, fire and rescue personnel, and EMS.
The training will take place at Dade Middle School, where residents can expect to see an increased presence of emergency vehicles and first responders throughout the Tuesday morning exercise.
School officials said the drill is designed to improve staff awareness and reinforce emergency response procedures while also providing valuable training opportunities for local public safety agencies.
District leaders emphasized that the safety and well-being of students and employees remain the school system’s highest priority. They said regular safety drills and professional training are key components of maintaining secure learning environments across the district.
Dade County Schools also thanked parents, community members, and local public safety partners for their continued support in helping provide the safest possible learning environment for students.
The district is encouraging the public to be aware of the increased emergency response activity around Dade Middle School on the morning of Aug. 4, noting that it is part of a planned training exercise.
