The Dade County Sheriff’s Office and Dade County Schools will conduct a school intruder drill on Tuesday, Aug. 4, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen campus safety and emergency preparedness.
The sheriff’s office announced it will participate in the exercise alongside school officials to help ensure staff, students and first responders are prepared to respond in the event of a real emergency.
The drill is designed to evaluate safety procedures, improve coordination between law enforcement and school personnel, and provide an opportunity to practice established emergency response plans in a controlled environment.
Officials say the exercise is part of their commitment to maintaining a safe learning environment for students and staff throughout the school district.
The Dade County Sheriff’s Office emphasized that “a stronger community starts with safety” and said the partnership with Dade County Schools reflects a shared commitment to keeping local schools safe places to learn and grow.
Residents who see an increased law enforcement presence at schools Tuesday are reminded that it is part of the planned training exercise.
