Dade County Schools Cancel After-School Activities Due to Snow

DADE COUNTY, GA — Dade County Schools have canceled all after-school activities for Monday, March 16th due to the possibility of accumulating snow later this afternoon.

School officials say they have been in communication with Dade County Emergency Management while monitoring weather and road conditions across the county.

As of 12:00 p.m., temperatures on Lookout Mountain and Sand Mountain were hovering at or just above freezing. However, road temperatures remained around 40 degrees, thanks to the warm weather experienced over the past several days.

Officials say some accumulating snowfall is possible this afternoon, mainly in the higher elevations.

The Dade County Public Works Department remains on standby and is prepared to assist school buses during afternoon routes if needed.

While classes will continue as scheduled today, all afternoon and evening school activities have been canceled as a precaution.

Residents are encouraged to use caution while traveling and stay weather aware as conditions develop.
