Dade County Government offices will open two hours late on Monday, January 26, 2026, as officials continue to monitor hazardous winter weather conditions across the county, particularly atop Lookout Mountain.
County officials cited falling temperatures, predicted windy conditions and ice-covered trees as ongoing threats, with the potential for falling trees onto county roadways. The combination of wind and ice has increased concerns for public safety, especially in elevated areas.
In addition, extremely cold temperatures may lead to flash freezing, creating hazardous driving conditions on secondary and less-traveled roads throughout the county. Officials said icy patches may persist until sunlight and rising temperatures allow for evaporation and melting.
In related closures, Chief Judge Brian House has signed a court order closing all courthouse operations within the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit for the entire day on Monday.
The Dade County Senior Center will also be closed Monday. All operations, programs and services — including public transportation services — have been canceled for the day.
County officials urge residents to use caution while traveling, allow extra time for commutes, and remain alert for downed trees and icy road conditions as weather impacts continue.
