Community members interested in learning more about foster care and how they can make a difference in the lives of children are invited to attend Dade County Foster Care Interest Night on Monday, June 8.
Hosted by Woodlawn Baptist Church, the event will begin at 7 p.m. Eastern Time and is designed to provide information about becoming a foster parent, as well as other ways individuals can support children and families involved in the foster care system.
Organizers say the evening will offer an opportunity for residents to learn about the needs of foster children, the process of becoming a foster parent, and the support available for foster families. The event is also intended for those who may not be able to foster but still want to contribute to the foster care community through volunteer work, mentoring, donations, or other forms of assistance.
The theme of the event, “Open Your Heart. Change a Child’s Story,” highlights the impact community members can have on the lives of children facing difficult circumstances.
In addition to the informational presentation, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a question-and-answer panel at the conclusion of the program.
Foster care advocates hope the event will help raise awareness about the ongoing need for foster families and encourage more residents to explore ways they can support children in need throughout Dade County and the surrounding region.
Dade County Foster Care Interest Night will be held at Woodlawn Baptist Church on June 8 at 7 p.m. ET. The event is open to the public.
