TRENTON, GA — Dade County Coroner Courtney Gross will host the county’s first annual Day of Remembrance on Saturday, June 7, at 10:00 a.m. at the Dade County Historic Courthouse. The new event is intended to provide a supportive and compassionate space for individuals and families to reflect on and honor loved ones who passed away over the past year.
Coroner Gross is extending a heartfelt invitation to all community members who have experienced loss.
“This ceremony is an opportunity for our community to come together in remembrance, to grieve, and to begin healing,” said Gross. “Every life leaves a lasting impact, and this event gives us the opportunity to honor those memories while offering support and comfort to one another.”
The ceremony will feature remarks from Coroner Gross and Dade County Chaplain Terry Atkins, a moment of silence, and symbolic gestures of remembrance. Attendees are encouraged to bring a photograph or small memento of their loved one to be displayed during the event.
“This Day of Remembrance is about compassion and connection,” Gross said. “It is my privilege to offer this space for reflection and comfort as we honor those we’ve lost.”
Light refreshments will be provided following the ceremony. The event is free and open to the public.
