Dade County Commission to Meet Thursday; Millage Hearings, Data Centers and Alcohol Ordinance Among Key Topics
TRENTON, Ga. — The Dade County Board of Commissioners will hold its monthly workshop and regular meeting on Thursday, Aug. 6, with a full agenda that includes scheduling property tax hearings, discussing data centers and cell towers, and considering updates to the county’s alcohol ordinance.
The commission workshop begins at 6 p.m., followed by the regular monthly meeting at 7 p.m. at the Dade County Administrative Building.
During the workshop, commissioners are expected to:
- Receive a monthly update on construction of the new Elections Building.
- Consider a resolution reappointing the County Safety Coordinator.
- Hold the second reading of proposed amendments to the county’s Alcoholic Beverage Control Ordinance.
- Set the schedule for 2026 millage rate public hearings.
- Discuss cell towers and data centers, led by Commissioner Bob Woods.
- Hear Commissioner Melissa Bradford’s report from the National Commissioners Conference.
- Consider proclamations recognizing National Emergency Management Awareness Month, Purple Heart Day, and National Senior Citizen Day.
The regular meeting will feature presentations from:
- Laura Beth Cunningham, Dade County 4-H Agent.
- Chief Appraiser Paula Duvall with a property assessment update.
- Sandy White, President and CEO of Alliance for Dade.
- Lydia Soucy, Manager of the Dade County Public Library.
- County Executive Don Townsend, who will provide an executive update.
Commissioners will also consider approval of the county’s monthly financial and investment reports before voting on items discussed during the workshop.
The meeting is open to the public and will be held in the Commissioners’ Public Meeting Room at the Dade County Administrative Building.
