Dade County Board of Education to Meet, Recognize Students and Review Funding Update

TRENTON, GA — The Dade County Board of Education is set to meet Monday March 23rd at 5 pm to review a full agenda that includes student recognitions, financial updates, policy approval, and possible action on technology and graduation-related purchases.

The meeting will begin with the call to order, invocation, pledge of allegiance, adoption of the agenda, and approval of minutes.

During the Superintendent’s Report, board members are expected to hear several recognitions and updates, including the Character Award for March, recognition of STAR Student Ellie Burick and STAR Teacher Dr. Doug Bailer, and acknowledgment of Chloe Ballard, who received the Superintendent Pin of Excellence for artwork currently on display at the State Capitol.

The board will also recognize Fine Arts in Our Schools Month, note GSBA School Board Appreciation, and receive a financial and funding update along with other system updates.

Under the Consent Agenda, board members are scheduled to consider several items, including:

  • Monthly financial and general fund reports

  • Approval of the application for Exemplary Board

  • Purchase of a stage for graduation and other ceremonies

  • Board Policy IFBG for approval

  • Technology equipment upgrades for audio and video labs

The agenda also includes a time for public input before the board votes on the consent agenda.

Following that, the board is expected to enter executive session for matters involving personnel, property, safety, and students, before returning to open session and taking up the personnel report.
