FORT PAYNE, Ala. — A convicted felon was arrested Tuesday following the execution of a high-risk search warrant at a residence in DeKalb County, authorities said.
On January 20, members of the DeKalb County Drugs and Major Crimes Unit, assisted by the DeKalb County Special Response Team (SRT), executed a search warrant at a home in the 800 block of County Road 330 in the Ider community. The warrant stemmed from an ongoing investigation into a convicted violent felon believed to be living at the residence and unlawfully possessing firearms.
During the search, investigators and narcotics agents recovered two firearms along with methamphetamine, marijuana, and steroids, according to authorities.
As a result, Christopher Lance Burks, 45, of Ider, was taken into custody and charged with multiple offenses, including Certain Persons Forbidden to Possess a Firearm (one felony warrant and two additional counts), four counts of Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana in the Second Degree, and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden said the arrest reflects the department’s continued commitment to public safety.
“Our deputies work daily to protect the citizens of our county from individuals who show no regard for the law,” Welden said. “We will remain vigilant and hold all offenders accountable for their actions.”
