Dear Trenton Residents,
I, Cody Doyle, a lifelong Dade County resident, husband, and father of three with twins on the way, am proud to announce my candidacy for Parks and Recreation Commissioner. With ten years as a volunteer firefighter in Dade County and experience on the Trenton Planning and Zoning Committee and as an election poll worker and precinct manager, I’ve served Trenton with heart. I’m running to strengthen our parks and animal control, guided by a vision: Remembering Our Past, Engaging in the Present, Planning for the Future.
Our parks are Trenton’s heart, where families gather and kids thrive. Yet, challenges remain. Our city pool needs maintenance and modernization to stay safe and welcoming. I’ll pursue grant funding to support these upgrades and expand our parks, creating vibrant spaces for all without overburdening taxpayers. As a father to young children, I am invested in the well-being and success of our community parks. By enhancing recreational programs, from youth sports to senior activities, we’ll foster health and connection. As commissioner, I’ll be a diligent steward of our budget, ensuring every dollar delivers value.
Animal control requires urgent attention. Historically, it has been managed by the Parks and Recreation Department, but responsibility will soon shift to the Trenton Police Department. The
recent puppy mill discovery, with over 250 dogs rescued, highlighted a few missteps. Ordinances were in place but not enforced, and alleged reports of this issue lingered for two years without action. I’ll work closely with the Trenton-Dade Animal Center committee to plan a compassionate, accountable system. As animal control transitions to police department responsibilities, I’ll collaborate with the Trenton Police Department to ensure a seamless handover, prioritizing animal welfare and community trust.
Transparency and engagement are my priorities. I’ll be present walking our parks, attending events, and listening to you. I’ll share clear updates on projects and budgets to keep you informed. My public service experience has taught me to act with purpose. As a volunteer firefighter for ten years and a full-time firefighter in Metro Atlanta for eight years, I’ve honed strong leadership skills through promotions and by guiding crews with care and decisiveness in high-pressure emergencies. On the Planning and Zoning Committee, I’ve shaped Trenton’s growth with community input. As an election official, I’ve ensured our democratic process runs smoothly. These roles prepare me to lead with integrity, putting Trenton first.
I’m ready to serve as your Parks and Recreation Commissioner, making our parks and animal systems thrive. Visit my Facebook page, “Cody Doyle for Trenton Parks and Rec,” to share your ideas and learn more. Together, we’ll honor our past, engage in the present, and plan a brighter future for Trenton.
Sincerely,
Cody Doyle
