CHI Memorial Parent Company Hacked; Memorial Systems Offline, Procedures Moved

After an incident of hacking hit the parent company that owns CHI Memorial, procedures at the local hospital have had to be rescheduled and moved.
Systems were taken offline, and patient procedures moved when CommonSpirit Health, the parent company of CHI Memorial were notified of an “internal disaster.”
Sources state that the hacking incident may have had a source in Chinese origin.
A source at CHI Memorial hospital stated they were managing their IT security incident and taking precautionary procedures including taking the Electronic Health Record systems among others offline. The facilities have protocols in place for similar system outages that are designed to minimize healthcare disruption for patients.
The company is investigating the source of the hack.
