A burglary early Sunday morning blocked roads on Highway 11.

Dade County Sheriff’s Department Public Information Officer Hailey Smith provided information on the burglary which occurred on November 1, 2020.

Smith said units were dispatched at approximately 0700 hours to the DJs Food Mart located at 593 Hwy 11 South in reference to a Burglary Alarm.

“When Dade County Units approached from the North Entrance, they were unable to pass the road due to a tree down in the road way,” Smith’s press release said. “Units had to leave the area and come in from the Alabama side south entrance only to find another tree down blocking the road. After further review, the trees were intentionally cut. A Dade Sergeant approached the store on foot and located forced entry on the rear door.”

Once the scene was made secure, officers discovered extensive theft and damage had occurred within the store. The scene was handed over to the Dade County Investigation’s Division.

  • The burglary is still under investigation and more information will be released as it is available.
