Blood Assurance says it delivered emergency O-positive blood units to Erlanger Medical Center following a deadly crash on I-75 in Dalton that left three people dead. While the agency was able to meet the hospital’s immediate demand, officials say the rapid response placed significant strain on its O-positive inventory.
Authorities say deputies attempted to stop the wrong-way driver before the collision. Investigators believe the driver—who also died in the crash—was impaired.
Blood Assurance is now urging O-positive donors to give as soon as possible to help replenish supplies.
