The Dade County Sheriff’s Office has been made aware of individuals falsely claiming to be with Animal Control, going door-to-door soliciting donations for the new county shelter — and in some cases, threatening to seize animals over alleged fines.
Officials confirm: No one affiliated with the new Animal Control Facility is collecting donations or issuing threats.
If you encounter anyone doing this, do not engage.
Instead, contact law enforcement immediately, and if possible, try to get a photo of the person and their vehicle to assist investigators.
Let’s work together to keep our community safe and informed.
