In January of 2021, burglaries started being reported at Slygo Mini Storage on Slygo Road. Throughout 2021, there were approximately 13 burglaries committed at that location.
Dade County Detectives began working these burglaries, but had no leads or suspect information to work with.
During the investigation, it was found that the locks were being cut off the storage units, and the items inside those units were being stolen. Some of those items were of no monetary value, but had tremendous amounts of sentimental value.
After a lengthy surveillance campaign, a suspect was finally identified. A search warrant was executed on the residence of this suspect, and several stolen items from the storage unit burglaries were located at his residence.
An arrest warrant for Burglary (2nd Degree) was issued for Marty R Workman, 50 of Bryant, Alabama. The suspect was taken in to custody, and is currently housed at the Dade County Jail.
