Dade County 4-H is now enrolling students for its upcoming Forestry Judging program, an exciting opportunity for youth to connect with nature while gaining valuable skills in forestry and conservation.

Forestry Judging is a hands-on 4-H competition where participants learn to identify tree species, measure tree height and diameter, read topographic maps, and explore forest management practices. No experience is required—4-H staff and volunteers will provide all the training needed.

Beyond the basics of forestry, the program helps students develop leadership, strengthen teamwork, and compete with fellow 4-H’ers from across the county and state. It’s a great way to learn, grow, and enjoy the outdoors.

Interested students and families can contact the Dade County Extension Office (706) 657-4116, [email protected], or visit the Dade County 4-H website for registration details. Spots are limited, so early sign-up is encouraged.
