New flashing pedestrian crosswalk signals have been installed along Highway 11 around the Dade County Historic Courthouse in downtown Trenton.
The new signals are designed to make pedestrians more visible and provide additional warning to motorists when someone is using the crosswalk.
Under Georgia law, motorists must stop and remain stopped for pedestrians in a crosswalk when the pedestrian is on the half of the roadway on which the vehicle is traveling, .
With the new equipment in place, motorists are encouraged to use extra caution while traveling through downtown Trenton and remember that pedestrians have legal protections when using designated crosswalks.
