Dade County Schools will be closed Wednesday, September 30, following Tuesday’s events in the county.
Superintendent Josh Ingle announced the closure Tuesday night.
“Due to the nature of today’s events, DCS will be closed on Wednesday, September 30, 2026,” Ingle said.
School officials plan to meet with law enforcement Wednesday to determine plans for reopening schools.
“We will meet with Law Enforcement on Wednesday and develop a reopening plan for Thursday, October 1, 2026,” Ingle said.
The announcement follows Tuesday’s shooting on Michaels Road and the subsequent law enforcement search that resulted in Davis Elementary School being placed on a soft lockdown as a precaution.
Dade County Schools has not yet announced additional details concerning Thursday. An updated reopening plan is expected following Wednesday’s meeting with law enforcement.
