A northeast Alabama man will spend the rest of his life in prison after being convicted of sexually abusing a 10-year-old girl.
David Neal was sentenced Monday to two life terms in prison, with the sentences ordered to be served consecutively, meaning one life sentence will follow the other.
Neal was convicted of sexual abuse and sodomy following a trial last week.
The case involved a 10-year-old girl who took the witness stand during the trial and testified about the abuse.
According to prosecutors, the abuse occurred in 2022 inside a trailer in Pisgah, a community in Jackson County.
Following Neal’s conviction, the case moved to sentencing Monday, when the court imposed the two consecutive life sentences.
The sentence concludes the trial and sentencing phase of the case.
