The Atlanta Braves have a chance to take another important series from a National League East rival Monday afternoon when they close out a four-game set against the Philadelphia Phillies.
Atlanta improved to 85-58 Sunday with a 5-4 comeback victory over Philadelphia. Ronald Acuña Jr. erased a three-run deficit with a three-run homer in the eighth inning before Austin Riley drove home the eventual winning run in the ninth.
The victory gave Atlanta a 2-1 advantage in the series and increased the Braves’ lead over Philadelphia to five games in the NL East standings.
Grant Holmes gets the start for Atlanta in the Labor Day finale. Holmes is 9-5 with a 3.62 ERA. The Phillies will send Jesús Luzardo to the mound with a 13-5 record and 3.02 ERA.
The Braves are looking to leave Philadelphia with three wins in the four-game series before returning home.
