Friday night brought another busy slate of high school football across Northwest Georgia, Southeast Tennessee and Northeast Alabama, with everything from dominant shutouts to high-scoring shootouts and a one-point thriller.
Marion County 48, Whitwell 0
The Marion County Warriors delivered a dominant performance, rolling past Whitwell 48-0. Marion County controlled the matchup and kept the Tigers off the scoreboard on the way to a convincing shutout victory.
South Pittsburg 41, Sequatchie County 7
South Pittsburg also picked up a decisive win Friday night as the Pirates defeated Sequatchie County 41-7. The Pirates piled up 41 points while their defense limited Sequatchie County to just one touchdown.
Geraldine 35, North Jackson 6
It was a difficult night for the North Jackson Chiefs as the Geraldine Bulldogs came away with a 35-6 victory. Geraldine’s offense put 35 points on the board while its defense held North Jackson to six.
Scottsboro 48, Fairview 7
The Scottsboro Wildcats turned in one of the area’s biggest offensive performances, defeating the Fairview Aggies 48-7. Scottsboro scored 48 points while its defense kept Fairview from mounting a comeback.
Pisgah 54, North Sand Mountain 39
North Sand Mountain and Pisgah combined for 93 points in one of the highest-scoring games of the night, with Pisgah eventually coming away with a 54-39 victory.
The Bison put 39 points on the scoreboard, but it wasn’t enough to keep pace with a Pisgah offense that finished with 54.
Fyffe 56, Section 0
Fyffe turned in a commanding performance against Section, shutting out the Lions 56-0. The Red Devils produced one of the largest margins of victory on the area scoreboard while keeping Section scoreless.
Plainview 56, New Hope 12
The Plainview Bears put together an impressive offensive showing, defeating the New Hope Indians 56-12. Plainview reached the 50-point mark while holding New Hope to 12.
Brewer 49, Crossville 7
The Brewer Patriots came away with a convincing 49-7 victory over the Crossville Lions. Brewer scored 49 points while limiting Crossville to a single touchdown.
Ider 56, Sand Rock 35
Offense was on display in Ider’s matchup with Sand Rock, as the two teams combined for 91 points.
The Ider Hornets came out on top, defeating the Sand Rock Wildcats 56-35. Sand Rock put together a 35-point performance, but the Hornets answered with one of the biggest offensive totals of the night to secure the 21-point victory.
Gaylesville 38, Valley Head 30
Gaylesville and Valley Head played one of the tighter contests on the Alabama scoreboard Friday night.
The Gaylesville Trojans came away with a 38-30 victory over the Valley Head Tigers in a game that saw the two teams combine for 68 points. Valley Head stayed within striking distance, but Gaylesville finished with an eight-point advantage to claim the win.
Fort Payne 37, Lee 7
The Fort Payne Wildcats turned in a strong performance Friday night, defeating the Lee Generals 37-7.
Fort Payne’s offense produced 37 points, while the Wildcat defense held Lee to just one touchdown to complete the 30-point victory.
Ringgold 27, Gordon Lee 14
The Ringgold Tigers picked up a 27-14 victory over the Gordon Lee Trojans on Friday night.
Gordon Lee put 14 points on the scoreboard, but Ringgold answered with 27 as the Tigers came away with the 13-point victory.
Trion 38, Ridgeland 24
The Ridgeland Panthers fell to the Trion Bulldogs 38-24 in another Northwest Georgia matchup.
Ridgeland scored 24 points, but Trion’s offense proved too much to overcome as the Bulldogs finished with 38 to secure the victory.
Dade County Game
Dade County 21, Temple 20
One of the closest finishes of the night came from Dade County, where the Wolverines held on for a thrilling 21-20 victory over the Temple Tigers.
With only one point separating the two teams on the final scoreboard, Dade County came away with a hard-fought victory in a game that went down to the wire.
Across the region, Friday night’s action featured plenty of offense. Ider, Fyffe and Plainview each scored 56 points, while Pisgah reached 54 and Scottsboro put up 48. Marion County and Fyffe recorded shutouts, while Dade County’s one-point victory over Temple provided one of the night’s closest finishes.
Marion County, South Pittsburg, Geraldine, Scottsboro, Pisgah, Fyffe, Plainview, Brewer, Ider, Gaylesville, Fort Payne, Ringgold, Trion and Dade County all finished Friday night in the win column.
