Dade County Commissioners to Consider ,School Resource Officer Agreement Grants and Elections Building Update Thursday

The Dade County Board of Commissioners will meet Thursday evening with several financial, public safety and development-related items on the agenda.

Commissioners will begin with a workshop at 6 p.m. Thursday, September 3, followed by the regular monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Both meetings will be held in the Commissioners’ Public Meeting Room at the Dade County Administrative Building.

Among the major items scheduled for discussion during the workshop is an update on construction of the new Dade County Elections Building. Commissioners are also scheduled to hear from Dade County Tax Commissioner Angie Galloway.

Public safety is also on the agenda, with Chief Deputy Tommy Bradford scheduled to discuss a School Resource Officer agreement.

Commissioners will consider Resolution R-45-26 involving an Appalachian Regional Commission grant through the Investments Supporting Partnerships in Recovery Ecosystems, or INSPIRE, Initiative. Also scheduled is an intergovernmental agreement between Dade County and the Center for Rural Prosperity and Innovation involving a grant.

Financial business includes consideration of Resolution R-46-26, an amendment to the county’s fiscal year 2026 budget and other funds. The workshop also includes a discussion involving Overlooked Materials Glass Recycling.

Commissioners are also scheduled to consider proclamations recognizing Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, Library Card Sign-up Month, Service Dog Month and National Recovery Month.

During the 7 p.m. regular meeting, commissioners will hear district reports and an executive update from Chairman Don Townsend. Presentations are scheduled from Dade County Public Library Manager Lydia Soucy, UGA Extension Dade County 4-H Agent Laura Beth Cunningham, and Alliance for Dade President and CEO Sandy White.

The board will also receive its monthly financial reports before considering items brought forward from the workshop for possible action
