The North Jackson Chiefs will kick off the 2026 high school football season Thursday night as they travel to take on the Grissom Tigers.
Both teams enter the season at 0-0 and will get their first opportunity to start the new campaign on a winning note when they meet Thursday, August 20.
For North Jackson, the season opener will provide an early road test as the Chiefs look to establish momentum for the season ahead. After weeks of offseason preparation and preseason work, Thursday night will mark the first regular-season opportunity for the team to put it all together on the field.
Grissom will have the advantage of opening its season at home as the Tigers also look to begin the year with a victory.
Season openers can provide an early look at a team’s strengths and areas for improvement, and both programs will look to make a strong first impression as the 2026 campaign gets underway.
Kickoff between North Jackson and Grissom is scheduled for 8 p.m. Eastern and 7 p.m. Central.
Fans who can’t make it to the game can hear the action on 106.1 K-WIN. Coverage begins at 7:45 p.m. Eastern and 6:45 p.m. Central, followed by kickoff at 8 p.m. Eastern and 7 p.m. Central.
