Scott Hall Named North Sand Mountain Head Football Coach; Bison Withdraw from Dade Scrimmage

HIGDON, Ala.Scott Hall will serve as the North Sand Mountain High School head football coach, according to confirmation from Principal Brooke Phillips.

Hall, the Bison’s longtime defensive coordinator, takes over following the resignation of Jay Lipscomb, who stepped down to focus on his family as his newborn son undergoes an extended hospital stay at Children’s of Alabama in Birmingham.

Hall is a familiar face at North Sand Mountain, where he has served as a teacher and coach for 24 years. In addition to his role with the football program, Hall also coaches the North Sand Mountain girls and boys track and field teams.

The coaching change also comes as North Sand Mountain has withdrawn from its scheduled preseason scrimmage against the Dade County Wolverines, which was set for August 15 at Finley Stadium in Chattanooga.

Dade County has since announced it will instead face Chattanooga Prep in the preseason scrimmage on August 15, with kickoff scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at Finley Stadium.

North Sand Mountain will now turn its attention to preparing for the 2026 season under Hall’s leadership.
