Tennessee Pursuit Ends in Dade County; Georgia Man Faces Charges in Two States
TRENTON, Ga. — More details have been released following a vehicle pursuit Tuesday that ended in Dade County with the arrest of a Georgia man now facing charges in both Georgia and Tennessee.
According to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, detectives with the agency’s Criminal Warrants Unit located Kennie Montieth, who was wanted on active felony warrants out of Walker County, Georgia, and attempted to take him into custody in Tennessee.
Investigators said Montieth fled in a vehicle, leading deputies on a pursuit along Rossville Boulevard before entering Interstate 24 westbound. The chase continued into Georgia, where it ended in Dade County.
Authorities said the suspect’s vehicle slowed enough for a Hamilton County deputy to safely perform a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver, bringing the pursuit to an end. Because the arrest occurred in Georgia, Montieth was taken into custody by Georgia law enforcement officers.
Montieth is now facing charges in both states.
Dade County Charges
According to Dade County authorities, Montieth has been charged with:
- Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer
- Felony Obstruction of a Law Enforcement Officer by Threats or Violence
- Misdemeanor Obstruction of a Law Enforcement Officer
- Improper Lane Change/Failure to Maintain Lane
- No Insurance
Hamilton County, Tennessee Charges
Hamilton County authorities have also charged Montieth with:
- Evading Arrest
- Reckless Endangerment
- Aggravated Assault
- Driving an Unregistered Vehicle
- Driving Without a License
- Speeding
- Failure to Maintain Lane
- Reckless Driving
Officials have not released details about the Walker County felony warrants that initially prompted detectives to attempt the arrest.
The investigation remains ongoing. As with all criminal cases, the charges are allegations, and Montieth is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
