Gov. Brian Kemp has appointed Kathleen Van Pelt Davis as the new district attorney for the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit, filling the vacancy created by the resignation of Clayton M. Fuller.
The Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit serves Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade and Walker counties.
Davis currently serves as a Special Assistant Attorney General, representing the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services and the Division of Aging Services in the four-county judicial circuit. She has also spent the past 11 years as a director of the law firm Bowers & Davis, LLC, where she has represented clients in criminal and domestic law matters and conducted mediations throughout Northwest Georgia.
Earlier in her legal career, Davis served as an associate Special Assistant Attorney General under Judge Steven M. Ellis.
A graduate of the University of Georgia School of Law, Davis earned her law degree cum laude. During law school, she participated in the Prosecutorial Clinic, where she served under former Conasauga Judicial Circuit District Attorney Kermit McManus. She also graduated magna cum laude from the University of Georgia with a bachelor’s degree in political science.
Davis lives in Catoosa County with her husband and their four children.
The appointment takes effect immediately, with Davis assuming responsibility as the chief prosecutor for the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit following Fuller’s resignation.
