Jackson County Man Charged in Alleged Cockfighting Operation

A Jackson County man is facing charges after authorities investigated an alleged cockfighting operation in the Bryant community.

According to court records, Eric Hill has been charged with keeping a cockpit and fighting chickens in a public place. The alleged activity took place at a residence on County Road 290 in Bryant.

The investigation began last month after an animal rights organization provided drone footage to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities say the video allegedly showed people gathering chickens outside a barn and placing some of the birds into cages.

Hill has since been released from the Jackson County Jail after posting bond.

The case remains under investigation.
