Trenton City Commission to Consider SPLOST Purchases, Tax Agreements at Monday Meeting
TRENTON, Ga. — The Trenton City Commission will meet Monday evening July 13th with a agenda that includes consideration of public safety equipment purchases, intergovernmental tax agreements with Dade County, and several community presentations.
The commission will hold its monthly workshop and regular meeting beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Trenton City Hall, located at 12882 North Main Street.
Among the items scheduled for consideration are the purchase of new turnout gear for the Trenton Fire Department using SPLOST funds and the emergency purchase of a new mower for the city’s Parks Department. Commissioners will also receive an update regarding the city’s Alcohol Privilege Card program.
During the regular meeting, Mayor Alex Case is expected to present two proposed Intergovernmental Agreements between the City of Trenton and Dade County concerning the proposed Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (TSPLOST) and the Floating Local Option Sales Tax (FLOST), both of which are expected to appear before voters later this year in November.
The commission will also hear presentations from:
- Lydia Soucy with the Dade County Library
- Sandy White representing the Alliance for Dade
- Jane Dixon regarding Tree City USA.
Additional agenda items include departmental reports from the Police Department, Parks and Recreation, TDAC, Fire and Utilities, Streets Department, and the Mayor, along with legal matters, unfinished business, citizen participation, and any necessary executive session.
The meeting is open to the public, and residents are encouraged to attend and stay informed about issues affecting the City of Trenton.
