The Democratic Parties of Walker County, Dade County, Catoosa County and Chattooga County will host a regional rally later this month aimed at energizing supporters and highlighting upcoming political races.
The event, titled “Country Democrats Rising,” is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 21, from noon until 2 p.m. at the Walker County Ag Center. Organizers say the adults-only rally will feature speakers, entertainment and opportunities to hear from Democratic candidates seeking state and federal office.
Among those expected to appear are congressional candidate Shawn Harris and Georgia Public Service Commission candidate Peter Hubbard.
The program will also include a performance by comedian Corey Ryan Forester, known for his “Redneck Liberal” commentary, and live country music from the Abston/Mast Trio.
Attendees will be served a chili and cornbread lunch as part of the event. Admission is $30 for adults, $25 for seniors and $15 for youth ages 16 to 30.
Organizers say the rally is intended to bring together Democrats from across northwest Georgia and encourage civic engagement ahead of upcoming elections.
