Dade and Walker County students struggling in school will have more support this summer, thanks to the expansion of the Time with Teachers tutoring program. Funded by the Frank P. Pierce Foundation, the program recently welcomed several new tutors—certified and retired teachers—who will offer one-on-one assistance to students at local library branches.
The Time with Teachers initiative is designed to help students who are at risk of failing a subject or who scored below the proficient level on the Georgia Milestones exams. Tutoring is free of charge and takes place at participating library locations.
To make scheduling easier for families, the program officially launched the TutorBird platform on June 17. The online system allows parents and guardians to select a tutor, choose a location, and book appointments, which will begin on July 1.
To register, visit CHRL.ORG and look for Time with Teachers under the “Services” tab. A video tutorial is also available to walk users through the process.
