  • John Mellencamp revealed to Indianapolis Monthly, that in addition to recently recording — he and Bruce Springsteen actually painted together: “Bruce and I have done two paintings together. We have a painting that we worked on for two days straight. He painted one side and I painted the other. Bruce had never painted at all and he was really good, really into it. I was surprised at how hard he tried. He was like, 'How do you do this, John? How do I make this work?' We’re trying to figure out how to sell it and give the money to charity. But I was proud of him. He went after it.” (Indianapolis Monthy)
  • Tina Turner has sold her music rights to BMG for an undisclosed sum. The new deal “includes all of Turner's artist's share of her recordings and her music publishing writer's share, as well as neighboring rights and name, image and likeness.” Warner Music will remain Turner's record company.
    • Turner, who's now 81, said in a statement, “Like any artist, the protection of my life's work, my musical inheritance, is something personal. (I am) confident (my work) is in professional and reliable hands.” (Barrons.com)
  • Starting on October 13th, Peter Frampton will be parting with some of his legendary equipment, via Peter Frampton's Official Reverb Shop at Reverb.com. According to the announcement, “The shop will feature a slew of amps, guitars, and pedals that Frampton has used in the studio and on stage over the years. Frampton laughed, 'I must admit that the reason for this is that I have over-collected. This is why I’m needing to not collect so much.” (Reverb.com)
  • Deep Purple has joined forces once again with legendary producer Bob Ezrin for the band's new covers album, titled Turning To Crime. The set's first single, a cover of Love's 7 And 7 Is,” has just dropped, with the album following on November 26th. The collection features new takes on classic cuts by Peter Green-era Fleetwood Mac, Bob Dylan, the Yardbirds, Little Feat, and Cream, among others. (Press release)
