Derrell Lee “Sam” Ellis, age 76, of Bryant, AL passed away at his home on Thursday, September 13, 2018, after a battle with cancer. Mr. Ellis was a boilermaker, mechanic and an iron worker. He was an avid antique car collector, a member of both the Masons Lodge and the Shriners Lodge, and was of the Baptist faith. To his family he was a was a loving husband and father.
Preceded in death by his son Derrell Lee Ellis, Jr.; sister Bobbie Jo Davis; brothers Wayne Ellis and Kenneth Brown.
Surviving include his wife Johnnie Que Fairris Ellis of Bryant, AL; daughter Robbie Lynn (Michael) Terry of Rome, GA; son Kenneth Waylan (Sharon) Ellis of Bryant, AL; sisters Susie Culbert of Trenton, GA and Penny Haswell of Wildwood, GA; 5 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, September 22, 2018 in the chapel with Rev. Greg Ellis officiating. Family will receive friends 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at the Ryan Funeral Home, Trenton, GA.
