Martin Willis “Marty” Hickey, 84, of Trenton, GA, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 in a local hospital.
Marty was a native and lifelong resident of the Chattanooga and North Georgia areas and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Rising Fawn United Methodist Church and was a well-known gospel/bluegrass singer with his former wife, Helen, as The Hickeys. They were inducted into the Northwest Georgia Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame in 2008 and sang in many churches and festivals throughout the years. Marty was preceded in death by his parents, Buck & Goldie Hickey, son, Charles Hickey, brothers, Michael & Steven Boyd, and sister, Stephanie Boyd.
Marty leaves to cherish his memory, his sons, Marty Hickey, Jr., of McDonald, TN & Doug Hickey, of Flat Rock, AL; daughter, Angela Michelle Hickey, Higdon, AL; bonus children, Mark Raborn, Waterloo, IL, Janet (David) Clayton, Rossville, GA, Tracy (Wendy) Raborn, & Catherine (Wayne) Lamer, all of Aiken, SC; 13 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces & nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 14th at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Mike King officiating. Interment will follow in Miller Cemetery, Rising Fawn, GA, with full military honors.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 13th from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home & Crematory, Trenton, GA.
