Joyce Moore WallaceSweetwater, TN

Anna “Joyce” Moore Wallace passed away on December 30, 2020 at her residence. Joyce was born to Lewis and Margaret Moore of New Salem, GA in 1933. She was a 1951 graduate of Dade County High School and worked until her retirement at South Central Bell Telephone Company in Chattanooga.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ben Wallace of Sweetwater, TN, and sister Jeanette Forester of Head River, GA.

She is survived by sisters Norma Stoker, Chickamauga, Barbara Stinson, New Salem, and brothers David Moore, Flat Rock, AL. and Presley Moore also of New Salem. Although having no children she loved and cared for her nieces and nephews as though they were her own.

Her Christian faith was very important to her, and Joyce served in several churches as a teacher and pianist. Her most recent church affiliation was with First United Methodist Church of Sweetwater. She gave generously to support many charitable causes. Joyce enjoyed sewing, ceramics, painting, and her flowers. She also spent countless hours compiling several branches of her family’s genealogy.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, January 2, 2021 at 2:00 PM EST at Hawkins Cemetery in New Salem with Steve Forester officiating.
