John L. McLean, 88, of Trenton, GA, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 29, 2022.
John was born April 4, 1934 in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Annie McLean and sister, Marjorie McLean. John has resided in the Chattanooga area for the past thirty years. John is survived by his loving wife Venita, of twenty-seven years, his two sons George (Kathy) and Bill (Sharon) McLean and granddaughters Madeline and Lucy McLean. He is also survived by his step-children and grandchildren Glenn (Ninfa), Karen, Tori and a great-grandson, Jayden.
Mr. McLean was an aeronautical engineer retired from the Nuclear Power consulting business. He was an avid sailor & spent many years living and sailing in the Cape Cod area. He was an acclaimed water color artist and for twelve years, he was a member of the In-town Gallery. He was a former member of the Tennessee and Georgia Water Color Societies. He has exhibited with juried shows with the Falmouth artist guild (Cape Cod) and the Georgia Water Color Society. After many years of living on the New England coast, painting coastal scenes and marshes, he changed his focus to the rural country-side which surrounded him in Tennessee and Georgia. John was a long-time member of First-Centenary United Methodist Church where he was also a former choir member. He enjoyed travelling and spending time with family and friends. He will be missed by all.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at the First-Centenary United Methodist Church. The visitation will be at 1:00 PM with the service beginning at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The Centenary (an outreach program for children) in his honor.
