Gordon Thomas “Tom” Payne
October 18, 1952 - January 18, 2023

Gordon Thomas “Tom” Payne, 70, of Trenton, GA, received his answer to prayer on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, when God called him home, to hear the words he longed to hear “well done, thy good and faithful servant.” Tom was preceded in death by his faither, Gordon Lee Payne, mother, Charlsie Keys, and step-father, Henry Keys.
As a younger man, Tom enjoyed golf, fishing (preferring “bass”) and occasionally shared his love of snow skiing, wishing he had learned sooner. He spent thousands of hours looking for arrowheads and God blessed his efforts with many treasures from the past to share with future generations. He enjoyed sharing the stories of how and where he found the arrowheads, how God would reveal the smallest point so he could find it. He was a meticulous carpenter and heavy equipment operator always doing his very best. Tom lived by a guide…”if you can’t do your best, leave it to someone who will,” therefore he never left a job he was ashamed to say he did. If you truly new Tom Payne, you were blessed. He spent his most recent time thanking God for his protection though the years knowing he would not have made it without his grace and mercy. He urged others to study God’s word and enjoy the truth as God reveals it.
Tom is survived by two daughters, two sons-in-law, two grandchildren, four siblings, as well as many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Honoring Tom’s request, there will be no formal funeral service or family visitation. You may share your thoughts and memories of Tom on his memorial tribute at ryanfuneralhome.net.
Those who loved him honored him in life and he appreciated it so very much.
Arrangements are under the care of Ryan Funeral Home & Crematory, Trenton, GA.
