Deloris Rebecca (Buchanan) Smyth, 90, of Trenton, GA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 18, 2023.
She was born on August 8, 1932 to the late Ephriam & Ida Buchanan, grew up in Trenton and was a graduate of the Dade County High School class of 1950. In 1964 she and her late husband, Charles, opened Char-Del Shoes and ran it successfully for 35 years. Deloris was a founding member of Citizens Bank and served on the board of directors for over 30 years. She loved to entertain family and friends and was known for her legendary peanut brittle and pecan tarts. Deloris was also very passionate about square dancing and became a member of the Star Twirlers of Chattanooga for many years. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Viola Buchanan, Lester (Elsie) Buchanan, Chester (Ruth) Buchanan, Ruthie (James) Shrader, Jewell (Walter) Heiser, Ida (Jim) Cooper, E.S. (Evelyn) Buchanan, & Wanda (Fran) Hilley.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Patti (Doug) Bradshaw, & Debbie Pratt; sister, Virginia (Max) Joiner; grandchildren, Dusty (Molly) Bradshaw, Bridgett (Mike) VanVeldhuizen, Ashley (Chad) Chambers, & Nikki Lyons; great-grandchildren, Gage King, Trey Bradshaw, Ben Bradshaw, Emma Vandagriff, Delaney VanVeldhuizen; Lorlei VanVeldhuizen, Patrick Segurola, & Patrick Segurola; many nieces and nephews also survive.
The family would like to thank the staff at The Lantern@Morning Pointe on Shallowford Road for their compassionate care of Mrs. Smyth.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 23rd at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Zack Ditmar officiating. She will be laid to rest in Lake Hills Memorial Gardens with Dusty Bradshaw, Trey Brandshaw, Ben Bradshaw, Chad Chambliss, & Mike VanVeldhuizen serving as pallbearers.
