LADY WOLVERINES FALTER EARLY AND DROP OPENER 8/22/08

The Lady Wolverines opened to 2008 Softball season on Thursday at home with a remodeled and improved home facilities, a new coaching staff and new style uniforms but were unable to make the day a complete success as they fell to the Sonoraville Lady Phoenix 5-4 before a large opening day crowd on the Dade County High campus.  The Lady Wolves fell behind 5-1 after 2 innings and couldn’t catch up as they lose their season opener. Errors and walks in the first two innings put Dade in a hole they couldn't dig out of.  The Wolves rallied for 1 in the 1st, 2 in the 3rd and 1 in the 5th but came up short as the Lady Phoenix notched thier first win over the Lady Wolverines. Morgan Tinker had two hits and scored three runs for the Wolverines. Sonoraville improves to 4-4 on the season while Dade falls to 0-1.

They won’t  have long to reload though as they open play Friday afternoon at the LFO Tourney against Cass at 4:00 PM.  They will play twice today and three times on Saturday in the tournament at              Emily Waldrop tries to leg out a 6th inning hit                                Jack Mattox Complex in Ft. FOOTBALL SEASON GETS UNDER WAY- PANTHERS PREVAIL 34-14 8/15/08

The Dade County Wolverines provided a good show Thursday night for the fans from Dade County who traveled to Finley Stadium to see first public look at the Bradley Warren era.

The Wolverines were strong in the first two series on offense and defense as they stood toe to toe early with the Ridgeland Panthers stopping the powerful offense on the early series as both teams matched up their first teams on offense and defense.

Ridgeland’s depth and talent proved too much for the Wolverines as two big plays on offense and a 30 yd interception for a TD gave the Panthers a 34-14 win in the final tune up for the regular season which will start on August 29 against the Fyfee Red Devils who are the defending state runners-up in Alabama finishing 13-1 last season.

Watch Highlights of the this week’s game and take a look ahead to the next game on the Wolverine Football Show with Bradley warren on Tuesday nights at 8 PM.
