Polly Rich

TRENTON — Polly Rose Rich, 82, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008.

She was a longtime employee of Cutter Laboratory in Chattanooga, a housewife and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Linnie Gentry; sisters, Mozell Qualls, Ruth Miller and Willene Newman; brothers, Howard Gentry and Herbert Gentry.

Survivors include husband, Henry Rich; daughters, Judy Hunt, Trenton, Sharon Williams, Knoxville; sons, Allan Browder, Trenton, Mitchell Cooper, Kinston, N.C., Henry Rich, Knoxville, Jackie Rich, Red Bank; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today in the chapel with Brother Billy Wallace and Brother Eddie Cantrell officiating.

Interment will follow in Lake Hills Memorial Gardens.

Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. today.

Paul Swart

TRENTON -- Paul Richard Swart, 77, died Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008.

He was a member of Sand Mountain United Methodist Church. He was retired from the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Corine Swart; one brother, Robert Swart; one sister, Hilda Ahlstron.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth L. Swart, of Trenton; three daughters, Chava Hoffman, Linda Cornelison, Dawn Elmendorf; four sons, Paul Swart Jr., Kenneth Swart, Mark Collins and Greg Collins; two sisters, Marilyn MacKenzie and Helen Bonansinga; two brothers, James Swart and Leonard Swart; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. EST today at Sand Mountain United Methodist Church with Rev. Wayne Cook officiating.

Dusty Lancaster

TRENTON -- Dusty Dewayne Lancaster, 26, passed away Monday, Nov. 10, 2008.

Dusty from a very young age enjoyed firefighting. He was a volunteer firefighter at New Home, a paid firefighter for Catoosa County, Ga. He was also a dispatcher for Memorial Hospital. He was an EMT and First Responder for New Home Fire Department where he lived.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Adam and Myrna Lancaster and Joe and Martha West.

He is survived by his father, Wayne; mother, JoAnne Griffith; stepmother, Mae Lancaster; stepfather, Darrell Mariedth; brothers, Michael K. King, Jasper, Bobby Morgan and David Ford, Trenton; sisters, Linda Gail King, Chattanooga, Talisha Daniell Whitaker, Bridgeport, Lashon and Tina Morgan, Trenton; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Funeral services will be conducted from the Tate funeral home chapel, Friday, Nov. 14, 2008, at noon CST with the Rev. Mike Howell and the Rev. David Houck officiating.

Interment will follow in Lancaster Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Tom Tipparelli, Dean Hood, Chris Hood, Steve Guinn, R. J. Guinn, Chuck Nichols, Thomas Jordi and Steve Wooten. Firemen and EMTS will serve as honorary pallbearers.

TRENTON -- Alma Ruth Bearden, 63, died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008.

She was a member of Harris Chapel Church. She was a housewife and loving mother.

She was preceded in death by her father, Claude Wooten and one sister, Lois Cronnon.

She is survived by her husband, Ed Bearden, of Trenton; daughter, Tonya and husband, Joe Riley, of Trenton; son, Michael and wife, Joy Bearden, Trenton; mother, Mary Ruth Wooten, of Trenton; three sisters, Mary Christine (Cricket) Holtzclaw, Trenton, Joyce Haggard, Jasper, Tenn., Sue Holcomb, Trenton; four brothers, Don Wooten, Bill Wooten, Charlie Wooten, all of Trenton, and Brady Wooten, of Rossville; four grandchildren, Austin Riley, Justin Bearden, Brett Bearden and Haley Whitley. Billy Bradford

TRENTON —Billy Joe "Butch" Bradford, 79, died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008.

He was a retired carpenter. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the European Theater.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Hester Amos Bradford and two brothers, Marvin Bradford and Norman Bradford; and one sister, Mary Lou McKaig.

He is survived by wife of 54 years, Helen Shankles Bradford, of Trenton; four sons, Ken and wife, Debra Bradford, Danny and wife, Ginger Bradford, Ronny and wife, Jackie Bradford, Tony and wife, Kelly Bradford, all of Trenton; one brother, Martin Bradford, of Trenton; one sister, Mabel Moore, Trenton; nine grandchildren, Hether (Jeff) Brewer, Scott, Ryan, Matthew, Jessica, Morgan, Shelby, Abby, Luke Bradford.; one great-granddaughter, Bailey Brewer; also several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. EST Wednesday at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy Wallace and the Rev. Bill Shaffner officiating.

Interment will be in Lake Hills Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Slaton was a member of the Trenton United Methodist Church.

She is survived by three daughters, Beverly and husband, William Brown, of Trenton, Maria and husband, Larry Miller, of Chattanooga, Cindi and husband, Wayne Coffee, of Trenton; three grandchildren, Brandi Brown, Brittani Brown, Chelsea Coffee; also several nieces and nephews.

She was of the Baptist faith. She had been employed with Cracker Barrel in Lookout Valley for 15 years. She was past president of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 106.

She is survived by husband, Carl Eugene Burrow, Trenton; one daughter, Pam (Mark) Morcombe, Chattanooga; one son, Chip (Dianna) Burrow, Rock Spring, Ga.; one brother, Jimmy Callahan, Chattanooga; one grandson.

He was employed with Dade County Water Authority, he enjoyed fishing and was a member of New Salem Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Oliver Brown; and brother, Ed Brown.

Survivors include his loving wife of 18 years, Jackie Brown; mother, Evelyn Brown; daughter, Jill (Joe) Davis; sons, James Lee Brown, Kenny Nave; sisters, Pat (Marcus) Sharp, Joyce (Ray) Bailey; brothers, Jim (Danette) Brown, Bob (Gena) Brown, Jerry (Loretta) Floyd; five grandchildren, Wayne Nave, Logan Nave, Caleb Addison, Brandon Addison and Gavin Brown.

ROSSVILLE — Terry Dickerson, 70, passed away Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, was a Southern Gospel musician and had played on The Grand Ole Opry with groups such as The Lefevers, The Statesmen, The Blackwoods, The Speer Family and The Florida Boys. He was also a member of The Dickerson Quartet, and had received Chattanooga Entertainer of the Year in 1975.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ewell and Jamie Dickerson; son, Robert Dickerson.

Survivors include his loving wife, Lorena Dickerson; daughter, Terri (Crandall) Clark, Erica (Clint) Stanley, Spring Dickerson; sons, Monty Dickerson, Marty Dickerson, Chuck (Spring) Dickerson, Eric (Heather) Carr; sister, Shelia (Jimmy) Carroll; brothers, Randle (Sheryl) Dickerson, Will (Linda) Dickerson; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

ROSSVILLE — Mildred Worley, 83, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2008.

She was a member of Lookout Valley Church of Christ and was a native of Dalton, Ga. She was a longtime resident of the Chattanooga area.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mack and Fannie Finch; and brother, William Finch.

Survivors include one son, Kenneth Worley, of Bryant, Ala.; and three grandchildren, Becky Davis, of New Hope, Tenn., Amanda Huckabee, of Bryant, Chris Worley, of Bryant; 11 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held in Sugar Valley Cemetery.

James Price Jr.

RISING FAWN — James Albert Price Jr. , 94, of Englewood, Fla., passed away Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008.

He was born Oct. 7, 1914, in Atlantic City, N.J.. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard as a young man. During World War II, he was on a battleship in the Pacific. He retired after 40 years with the Operating Engineers Local 825 in New Jersey.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Albert Price Sr. and Bessie Harvey Price; sisters, Dorothy Harvey Price, Ruth Price Silva and Patricia Price Balcom; and granddaughter, Phyllis Susan Price.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lucille Hatfield Price, of Englewood, Tenn.; and sons, James Albert Price III and Ronald Edward Price, of New Jersey; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Sarah Delzell, Polly Santos, Ann Moley, Barbara Holland and Patricia Hatfield.

TRENTON — Freida Moore Wall, 78, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday in the Moore Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Mark Kilbourne officiating.

Burial in New Salem Cemetery.

Visitation today 3-9 p.m.; Friday, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

W.B. Hankins

RISING FAWN — W.B. “Blake” Hankins Sr., 79, went to Glory Monday, Oct. 13, 2008, following a lengthy battle with several debiliating illnesses.

He has resided in Rising Fawn, where he lived with his dear wife, Joyce Hankins. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Ann Hankins; and his parents, Dr. and Mrs. William D. Hankins.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce K. Hankins; and children, Bill, Sheri, Jack, Keri, Terry, Christi, and in Rising Fawn, Lionel Austin, Steve Austin and Kathryn Lawson, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He worked for 32 years at Monsanto in Pensacola, Fla. He retired and moved to Lookout Mountain, Ga. where he lived until the death of his first wife in 1991. He later remarried and moved to Rising Fawn. He has lived there with Joyce and her children until his death. His second family surrounded him with love, support and affection. He never distinguished one family from the other and we will all miss him. Until his illness overtook him he was an active and beloved member of Rising Fawn United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. EDT Friday in the Ryan Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Doug Armstrong and the Rev. Jack Hankins officiating.

Interment will be in Hanna Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 5-9 p.m. today.

Wayne Moore

TRENTON — Hershel Wayne Moore, 62, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2008.

He was a bus driver for the Dade County Schools, was a member and past master of Trenton Masonic Lodge, was a former member of the Davis Fire Department and was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church.
